In 2018, the Australian comic science-fiction horror film Nekrotronic
(formerly known as Nekromancer) was released. Starring Ben O’Toole and Monica
Bellucci, Kiah Roache-Turner co-wrote and directed the film. The narrative
revolves around demons that use smartphone apps to take people’s souls and the
demon-hunters who go out to slay them. It was supposed to be a cross between
The Exorcist, The Matrix, and Ghostbusters.
The ICE of William Gibson’s
Neuromancer served as the inspiration for the narrative. At the 2018 Toronto
International Film Festival, the movie had its debut. [6] It made its
Australian premiere at the SciFi Film Festival in Sydney in September 2019.
